gpherman: 10//2 Alp D'Huez Free Trainer 5.0

For Lance, it is 21 switchbacks of agonizing mental and physical pain. Whenever he makes this epic climb, he brings the lessons of October 2, 1996 with him.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation receives US $1.00 for each 10//2 product sold.
  • Mimics barefoot movement to reawaken and strengthen your feet.

  • Outsole's flex grooves allow more natural motion.

  • Upper moves with the foot and the outside so the foot controls the shoe, not the other way around.

  • Alp d'Huez lasered on the lateral overlay.

  • "Divided Highway" runs from tongue to toe.

  • Perforated leather allows for a breathable upper.

  • Signature yellow band below the padded collar.

  • More info.

    gpherman: Nike Free

I got me a pair of Free Trainer 5.0s last month and I don't regret having them.
It may take some time getting used to the very light and flexible sole (especially if you are coming from well cushioned shoes) but they are probably the most comfortable trainers I've ever used since the ]Air Presto Gym and the Air Trainer Max V.

The pricing is on the lower end so don't expect much regarding build quality.
    Here's what disappointed me:

The sole and the area that connects to the upper is not made of 2 pieces of rubber but a single piece painted a second tone. It peels exposing the bottom color in time.

The ankle-cuffs have no eyelets (cost cutting measure?)

The thread is already coming undone.

Nike Free is a very interesting line but I'm afraid the shoes might not stay as long as the trend.

The Presto was introduced at a similar price (P3,600+) 5 years ago but the materials that were used were better and sturdier.

It's not a keeper but still a good shoe. Wear them while they last.

    gpherman: Nike+Kidrobot

Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1987, the NIKE Air Max 1 is the first in the revered Air Max collection, and was the first shoe created with a visible air bag.
The black, gold and pink styling was created by Paul Budnitz & Chad Phillips of Kidrobot, and was specifically designed to match the exterior of Kidrobot's pink and gold 1986 Maserati Quattroporte III Royale. Each limited edition shoe comes packaged in a specially-designed gold & pink collector's box, and includes a limited-edition mini Kidrobot keychain

    gpherman: Shanghai Surprise

I resisted the urge to purchase uncanny replicas of my favorite shoe of all time, the Air Max 2003 in Xiang Yang Market and was rewarded when I visited a genuine Nike Store (in Nanjing road) and found these Street Milers mtrs on sale:

This unisex version is lighter and cooler since it's synthetic upper is made from rip stop mesh instead of leather.

It pays to resist counterfeit goods.
